Snow forecasts are scored every day against SNOTEL stations. The sargassum model is tested on years it never trained on, against simple baselines, and the scores are published.

ECMWF, GFS, ICON and GEM global models, high-resolution regional models, NOAA marine, hurricane and satellite data, and USGS river gauges.
