• Scores the best 6-hour window between 5 am and 1 pm each day, when most offshore trips run.
• Waves count for more when the period is short: 4 ft at 5 seconds is rougher than 4 ft at 12 seconds.
• Limits scale with boat size. Thunderstorm risk (high instability and rain chance) is a big penalty.
• Temperature break: the largest sea-surface temperature change within about 25 km. Breaks of 1 °C or more often hold bait and pelagic fish.
