About Veabird

See the perfect day coming.

Veabird is an independent forecast site founded by Alex Houck. It grew out of a simple frustration: planning a beach or ski trip meant checking a dozen weather, seaweed and snow sites, and none of them answered the real question, which day, and where, will actually be great?

Veabird answers it with a single letter grade, A+ to F, for every place and date. Vea is Spanish for "see", and a bluebird day is the clear, sunny day after a storm.

What we forecast

• Beach: 1,700+ Caribbean, Gulf, Mexican Pacific and Hawaii resorts, with a satellite-trained sargassum (seaweed) model, water, waves, UV, crowds and hurricanes.
• Snow: run-by-run conditions at major ski resorts, checked against SNOTEL stations.
• Trips and outdoors: foliage, rivers, waterfalls, boating, camping, golf and game days.

How we stay independent

Veabird is free. It's paid for by affiliate partners and advertising, but partners never influence forecasts, grades or rankings. See our affiliate disclosure. Our methods and source code are public.
