How this report works

  1. Normal for each month. For every resort we take the summit's modeled snowfall (ERA5 reanalysis via Open-Meteo) for each month of the last 10 seasons and average it. That average is the prediction for the same month in 2026-27.
  2. Range. The lowest and highest of those 10 months show how much a single year can swing. Rockies months vary a lot, so treat the color as the typical case, not a promise.
  3. Two color scales. "Against a snowy month" uses one fixed scale across all months, so spring really looks thin. "Against the other resorts" re-ranks the resorts inside the chosen month, so even a slow month shows where the best snow is.
  4. Reanalysis smooths mountains. Trust the ranking and the shape of the season more than the absolute totals; real snow at a summit is usually higher.

This is a climate-based outlook, not a weather forecast: it does not know this winter's storms or El Niño/La Niña. Once a trip is within about 10 days, use the live Snow forecast.
