Careers at Veabird
Help millions of travelers see the perfect day coming.
Veabird is a small, privately owned company building the forecasts people use to decide where and when to ski, hit the beach and get outside. We grade every place and every day from A+ to F using satellite data, weather and ocean models and our own machine-learned forecasts, and we put those answers on the web and inside ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. We're growing fast and hiring our first senior leaders.
Why join now
VP of Marketing
You'll own how the world hears about Veabird: who we partner with, how travelers find us and why they come back. This is a builder role. You'll set the strategy and do the work, then hire the team as we grow.
What you'll do
- Build relationships with resort owners and operators. Ski resorts, beach hotels, property managers and tourism boards. Turn them into partners that embed our forecasts, feature Veabird to their guests and work with us on placements.
- Run our influencer and creator program. Find, sign and work with ski, beach and travel creators. Build programs that make content they're proud of and that brings real travelers to Veabird.
- Create funnels for users. From first search, social post or AI answer to a saved resort, a powder or seaweed alert, an email subscriber and a booked trip. Measure every step and improve the weakest one.
- Build the Veabird brand. Shape our voice, our look and the story of the bluebird day. Make Veabird the name people think of when they wonder whether this weekend will be great.
- Own growth channels: SEO and content, email, social, partnerships, PR and paid tests, with a clear budget and clear goals.
- Set up the numbers that matter (acquisition, activation, retention, revenue per visitor) and report them every week.
Who you are
- 8+ years in marketing or growth, including senior roles at a consumer, travel, outdoor or media brand.
- A track record of partnerships you started yourself, ideally with resorts, hotels, destinations or outdoor brands.
- Hands-on with creator and influencer marketing: you know who's worth working with and how to measure it.
- You've built and optimized funnels and can show the numbers that moved.
- A strong sense of brand and a writer's ear. You'd rather say it plainly than add buzzwords.
- Comfortable in an early company: you set your own priorities and like doing the work.
Nice to have
- Experience with affiliate travel marketing (hotels, flights, tours) or vacation rentals.
- Experience marketing products that live inside AI assistants.
- Your own network in the ski or Caribbean travel world.
Send your resume or LinkedIn and a few lines on a partnership or funnel you built and what it did.
Senior Developer, AI
You'll build the models and systems behind every Veabird grade: forecasts that learn from satellites, weather and ocean data, AI that plans trips, and the fast, light site that delivers it all. You'll take models from research to production and make them small, cheap and quick enough to run for millions of people.
What you'll do
- Build with LLMs. Our trip planner, AI search and the Veabird connector that runs in ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini: tool design, prompts, evaluation and guardrails.
- Distill models. Take what large models do well and train smaller, faster ones that run at the edge for a fraction of the cost, with evaluations that prove they still get it right.
- Improve our forecasts. Work on the machine-learned models behind sargassum (seaweed), snow, crowds and beach grades, trained on years of satellite and weather data and tested on years they've never seen.
- Build data pipelines in Python and JavaScript that pull, clean and score data for thousands of places every six hours.
- Ship features to the site in HTML, CSS and JavaScript that load fast on a phone in a hotel lobby.
- Keep costs low: we track AI spend per user and keep it to a couple of cents.
Who you are
- Fluent in AI and LLMs: you've shipped LLM features to real users, not just demos, and you know how to evaluate them.
- Hands-on experience with model distillation (teacher and student models, synthetic data, quantization or fine-tuning small models) and measuring what's lost.
- Strong Python for data and machine learning (pandas or polars, NumPy, PyTorch or similar).
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. You can build and fix a fast, accessible web page without a heavy framework.
- 5+ years building software, with a habit of writing tests and shipping small changes often.
- Curious about weather, oceans and the outdoors, and careful with forecasts people rely on.
Nice to have
- Experience with weather, climate, satellite or geospatial data.
- Edge and serverless platforms (Cloudflare Workers, Workers AI) and the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
- Time-series forecasting, calibration and probabilistic scoring.
Send your resume or GitHub and a short note on an LLM or distillation project you shipped and how you measured it.
