Snow Flex
Book your ski trip early. If the snow is thin a week before you arrive, move or cancel your stay for free.
Snow Flex is a booking term offered by participating vacation-rental managers in Colorado. It doesn't depend on anyone's opinion of the snow. It uses the federal SNOTEL snow station nearest your resort and one fixed rule, set on the day you book.
- Book a Snow Flex homeAt least 30 days before arrival, with a participating manager.
- We read the stationSeven days before you arrive, Veabird publishes the official reading for your resort's station.
- Thin snow? Your callIf it's below the line (half the station's median for that date), move your dates or cancel with no penalty.
Pilot: we're signing the first managers for the 2026-27 season now. Tell us below if you'd book with Snow Flex, and we'll email you when homes are available.

Snow water equivalent: inches of water in the snowpack, from the USDA NRCS SNOTEL network. The line is 50% of the station's median for that date. Until the median reaches 1 inch (usually mid-November), it is too early to judge.
The fine print, in plain words
- Snow Flex is the manager's own booking term. The manager makes the promise; Veabird publishes the readings.
- It applies to bookings made 30 or more days before arrival, at the stations listed above. The station, the line and the reading day are fixed when you book.
- If a reading is missing, a backup station is used. Moves depend on open dates at the same home or another of the manager's homes.
- It isn't insurance and doesn't cover travel problems, illness or road closures.
